Since this show was in Long Island I was a little bit weary about
attending it. The Long Island scene is one that I am not part of, so I was
afraid of feeling out of place at this show, but luckily, this was not the
case.
The first band to go on was After The Bath. I did not particularly like
this band. They sounded like a bad rip-off of the band Glassjaw. They gave
out free demos, which is always a cool thing for a band to do. That was
probably the only good thing that they had going for them.
The next band to go on was Drive-Thru Record's, Finch. The crowd really
went crazy for Finch. I especially liked when the band went right into the
crowd and danced and played along with the crowd. It was cool to see them
get as into the show as the kids there did. The best song that they played
was definitely "Letter to You" from their EP, Falling Into Place.
Finally, the band that I had been waiting to see again since August went
on. Thrice took the stage, and although many people left after Finch, there
was a great deal of energy being put out by both the band and the crowd.
Most of the songs they played were off of their new album, The Illusion of
Safety. The best part of their set was when they played the song "Phoenix
Ignition" from their album, Identity Crisis. I can't wait to see Thrice
again.
This show ended up being a very good one. I plan on checking out more
shows in Long Island, especially if it's for bands that put on shows as fun
as Finch or Thrice do!
