Elvis has come back and if you have never heard anything by the man, with one listen to this album you'll put your Weezer records on the shelves for a long time. Not to say that the man sounds like Weezer but he did bring a fresh brand of power driven pop that has been ripped off by countless other acts, not just the big "W." So, there are quite a few catchy pop songs on here but there is also some more loungey material reminiscent of Costello's collaboration with Burt Bacharach. Somber ballads on here too but nothing that comes even close to rivaling the sheer pop genius of "Allison." My only complaint is the way the vocals sound. It's too high. You hear vocals with background music basically. It comes off sounding like a really polished demo but at the same time it adds a very raw quality to the album. I guess that's what help makes this release so endearing. This album really does deserve some radio play and with the current climate and the right push from Island, it will land there and then it will cost all of the labels millions of dollars in profits since kids will get a taste of something good and shun the crap they are forced.
