Since the extreme popularity of No Doubt came about, it is pretty hard to
find a band with any ska influence, that has a female singer, and not
automatically compare them to No Doubt and Gwen Stefani. That is, until
What's Your Problem Brian came along!
Hailing from NY, What's Your Problem Brian combines ska and rock music
to make one great sound. Even if you aren't into WYPB's type of music, you
can't help but fall in love with their catchy tunes! The song "I'm Not
Gwen" talks about their similarities and differences with the all mighty No
Doubt. With words like, "Screw you, I'm not Gwen," they openly express the
fact that they are a completely different band with completely different
singers. They certainly convince me of the differences between the two
bands! Songs such as, "I'm Not Gwen" and "Big Shot Mike", both start off with
incredibly cool bass lines which anybody, musically inclined or not, would
appreciate. The song, "Lock the Door" is about a very interesting
teacher-student relationship, which you need to hear the C.D. to understand
what I am talking about. So there is some more insentive to go get it!
All in all, What's Your Problem Brian puts together one really good album
with some fun ska songs that everybody should enjoy! I encourage anyone who
likes music like No Doubt's older stuff, (yes, I hate to say it, but its
true) to buy this record. Even better, go see one of their shows. They put
on a great live show and they are a great band!
